FB Park main entrance

The above picture was the sight that greeted my wife, my son and myself as we arrived on Saturday 1st March 2008 for the start of the new season at Fallbarrow Park. SLP have removed some of the rental caravans and are replacing them with lodges for private sale. This is the kind of thing you expect in Spain when you arrive at your hotel to find a building site next door that was never mentioned in the brochure. To be fair to SLP, I was aware that they would be replacing rental units with lodges and I support that. However, we were never informed of the extent of preparation work required and the potential disruption that it may cause. I would like to know when this work started. I can bet it was only recently. Of course if the site had closed in mid November as it used to do, then they would have had plenty of time to complete the work.

Whilst on site, I had a walk around once I had got most things working in my lodge. I ventured onto one of the mooring jetties (the ones SLP were supposed to be replacing) and nearly slipped on the moss and lichen on the wooden decking.

State of the jetties

The above photo is not that great, but does give some idea of the state of the jetties which in my opinion is an accident waiting to happen. I certainly would not pay over £1,300 to moor a boat on these jetties.

I also walked around M Section at Fallbarrow which is all caravans. This section is to benefit from new power cables and supplies. Unfortunately, the work is far from finished and several people were put up in I presume rental units as they could not physically access their own property. The two M Section owners I spoke to were furious with SLP for not finishing the work. Now I wonder when the work started? Would they have been able to finish the work had the site not had the season extended? The following pictures tell their own story.

All in all, not a very encouraging start to the new season
