Well one month into the new season, and some things have changed, and others have not. Of course the things that have changed have not necessarily changed for the better.
One thing that has changed at Fallbarrow is the reception staff. New staff and they have nice new uniforms. Time will tell if the service will change (improve?) as well.
Another thing that is about to change is the Fallbarrow shop. It would seem that the new Tesco in Bowness is proving difficult to compete with. No shame in that, many larger retailers have tried and failed to compete with the mighty Tesco. However, the response to the competition does make me wonder if SLP have their marketing thinking caps on. They plan to turn the shop into an upmarket delicatessen offering exotic foodstuffs, sandwiches and coffee etc, plus papers and milk classed as essentials. This might work if there was no competition for a deli, but Bowness is not short of places selling upmarket foodstuffs. We really do not need a shop (or club for that matter) on Fallbarrow (my opinion but I guess shared by others). Please SLP, just close them both down and reduce our fees. Oops, is that a pig flying over Windermere.
On a sadder note, I learned last week that some friends we had made since buying on Fallbarrow had decided to sell up. They have just had enough of all the aggravation and poor value for money offered by SLP. I somehow do not think they will be the last people to move on either.
