Well, here we are towards the wrong end of yet another season. It was a season to be honest that started off full of foreboding. We were locked in a bitter dispute with the site owners (South Lakeland Parks) over excessive site fees and lack of consultation over the season extension. Then out of the blue, there was a change of management at SLP and with it came a change of attitude. SLP addressed the issue of excessive site fees but the extended season remained. What has been really refreshing has been a willingness from SLP to listen to the caravan and lodge owners.

We now have a shiny new shop and bistro (granted that was the previous management, but then we did not really want it), wi-fi access across the site, the promise of new jetties (which I finally believe will happen, after the empty promises before) and the promise of some investment in the power supply infrastructure.

So what does this really add up to? Well, it means that we and others on the site (and other SLP sites) can actually start to enjoy the lifestyle we bought into in the first place. Last season and the first few months of this were not pleasant. However, we now look forward to the last bit of this season and next season with renewed hope.
